The first Pet Sematary trailer is here and it is fabulous. The two-minute sneak peak is chock-full of chills and the promise of multiple jump scares. Granted, jump scares have doomed many a film over the years but this one feels different. There’s an ominous tone to the trailer, including foreboding shots of the woods behind the Creed home and emphasis on an eerie kiddie parade that gives a nod to The Wicker Man.
Jason Clark (Winchester, Zero Dark Thirty, Lawless) is Louis Creed, the patriarch of the Creed clan as they lay down new roots in a new town. Amy Seimetz (Alien: Covenant) is Rachel, Mrs. Creed, and the iconic John Lithgow plays Judd Crandall, everyone’s favorite grandfatherly figure.
Directed by Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer (the team behind Starry Eyes) and written by David Kajganich (2018’s Suspiria and AMC’s The Terror), the revamped adaptation of Stephen King’s classic novel hits theaters on April 5, 2019.
